The BLOG ThiNGy!!!! It is TOUGH!!!!

Making and maintaining a blog as a project is something new to our batch. We never had it before in our English class not even in our Computer class that is why we really find it difficult to adjust since we are not used to it, plus the fact that most of us including me are not fund of witting diaries and journals. Blog is just like a diary or a journal.

I know that the objective of our teacher as he made this into a requirement is clear and beneficial for us, his students for we are given the chance to improve our writing skills through writing blog entries. What made it too hard to comply is that the number of required entries per week is five which implies that at least every weeknights, we are to write a single blog entry. We find it quite impossible that time because we also have other activities to do throughout the period of blog entries. We are to prepare for our JS Prom, for the Drama Fest, for the Periodical Exams, for the Retreat and for some other activities and must-be-done requirements. To be exact, during the time when blog was introduced to us as a requirement, we had never ran out of activities yet. So that is why we find it very heavy to maintain our blog with the prescribed number of entries. Plus the fact that it must be a 500-word entry, it really added to the burden. But making a 500-word entry would not be a burden anymore if the number of entries will be reduced.

Despite the hardships, i still try my best to comply with the requirements even if this is just my 15th entry out of the 26 entries to be submitted before 12:00 midnight today(March 28, 2007), yet it is already 8:25 pm while i am still writing this entry.

Another burden that i have encountered is the financial allocations for the sustainment of this project. Usually, i write one blog entry per hour of logging in since i am not that fast and as proficient typer as my other classmates who can just finish one in just 30 seconds. We don't have a computer at home. So that only means that “AT LEAST” i need to allocate 26 hours to write the “already reduced” number of required entries. And that would cost at least P 390(is it right?). And where the heck would i find hat huge amount of money? I may save for it but because of the lack of time, our savings for blog would be directed to other sudden payments instead. That is why it is really very unfair or if not, very unfavorable for us, students who don't have computers at home, to work on such heavy assignment.

I understand Mr Montejo's intentions, it is just that the resources his “heterogeneous” students have. Maybe the beast thing to do is NOT to put and end on his project, because it has numerous advantageous effects on the students, but instead to reduce the required number of entries( example, for seniors, instead of 5, three perhaps would be more likely favorable and would be a lot more easier to comply.).
