Am I Really The BEST Midfielder?!!!!

We were having this Football Challenge in our school. Our teacher Mr Salera told me to gather my team in seniors and separate it into two groups, teams A and B. Team A will be consist of the “all-star” lineups. While on the other hand, team B will be composed of those remaining players.

I was assigned to be the Team Captain of team A(all-star!?). In the, i really don't have a specific position in the team, I just go where the ball rolls and wherever it will take me. At first, I was not already confident about the lineup we have in our team considering the fact that we are not that trained and used to playing soccer(although we fortunately won against he juniors in the championship during the Intramural Games). It is somehow a shame if we loose from other younger year level.

But our nightmare really happened. We lost in our first game against the sophomores. It was not just a lost by a single point instead with two huge points scored by the Sophomore's team captain, Luigi Manzano. We realized that we were looking forward too much on our game against the juniors without baring in minds that we still need to win against our opponents that time, the sophomore.

We thought that our loosing games would only be up to that match but we were erroneous! A nightmare happened once again. Although we won against the freshmen, i could still not consider it successful since it was only by way of an accidental penalty kick during the penalty shoot-out. We lost against the Juniors with a 4 – 2 run in favor of the Juniors. So we need to meet again wit the freshmen for the third place. Luckily we won. So we ended up in the third place.

On Monday, March 19, 2007, the awarding ceremony was held during the Flag ceremony. It was really amazing that I did really appreciate the efforts exerted by our P.E teacher in preparing the balls(for special prizes), the medals, the cash prize, and the trophy. There you can really see how dedicated he was in her programs and implementations.

Our Team B, at least, regained the honor of the seniors after our defeat in Team A. Of course, there were also special prizes to be given. One of those is The Most Disciplined Team which was won by the Freshmen since they were very diligent o come on time during games. Best Striker Award and the Best Player of The League was given to Rhonpete Belgida(He really deserves it). He received a ball, a medal and the jersey for the Best Player of The League. Clyde Labadia earned the Best Defender award. Byron Douglas Enriquez got the Award of Sportsmanship. Josef Amil was hailed to be the Best Goalkeeper.

Those awards were, for me, expected. But there was “one” award which until now is very questionable for me. I still cannot believe that I was chosen to be the the BEST MIDFIELDER(???) of the LEAGUE. Not out of humility, but i guess, a lot of other players deserve it mare than i do(i don't know). But nevertheless, thank you for the medal and the Soccer ball Mr Salera gave to me. It was indeed very self confidence-boosting!!!
